We are representing a firm whose software product solves a major problem for music producers, reps, and composers: These reps and artists typically have many gigabytes of audio samples and clips on their hard drives, purchased from various vendors with different labeling schemes. Finding the right sample for what is being worked on, or being sold for royalty use is a common challenge.
Our client’s software product allows users to train their own Deep Learning model on a subset of their samples, labeled however they want — by mood, genre, instrument type, sonic characteristics, etc. — and the software will find similar samples throughout the user’s hard drive, producing an index that can be integrated with industry-standard commercial composition and music production software.
The software generates spectrogram images for the musical audio and use image recognition to classify them according to the user’s own classification scheme.
Training the deep learning model can be slow on regular CPUs, so to train the model, a connection is made to a server with graphics processing units (GPUs) that can process the spectrograms for gigabytes of audio in mere minutes.
